Warriors was written by James Harpur. Unlike most of the books I’ve talked about here, this one isn’t a novel. It’s more of an historical encyclopedia. Though the way that Jarmes Harpur wrote the book makes it more fun for kids to read, and it’s filled with really neat graphics and photos.
The book is all about warriors throughout history, starting with the Assyrians and ending with the Zulu warriors. It shows some of the weapons the warriors used and describes their cultures and societies. It also includes detailed maps and various battle formations the warriors used. One formation, called “the horns of the beast,” was effective against even the great British armies.
This book is good for kids who like to learn about history and different warriors and cultures. I give this book a 4-star rating.
